Land Use and Local Voices: Is the City’s Land Use Process in Need of Reform? This past summer, MAS co-sponsored a conference with Manhattan Community Board 1 which explored ways to better plan for New York City’s future and foster productive conversations among city agencies, residents, community boards and developers in land use decisions. During the day-long conference, the moderators and panelists discussed their perspectives on Comprehensive Planning, Community Involvement, Land Use and Economic Development, Fair Share and Environmental Justice, and Community Benefits Agreements (CBAs). Although there are no quick and easy solutions to these issues, MAS intends to build on many of the ideas generated at the conference as we work toward meaningful land use reform. Watch the video for a summary of the conference discussions.
