Good Grief! NY Mag Says Gloomy Reports are Positive

Alec Appelbaum just posted a story for New York Magazine about an encouraging trend in the Moynihan Station project: doom and gloom stories (ex. see below). Confirming reports of Governor Spitzer’s recent meetings with the Dolans, Appelbaum cites “a source on the inside” who says the parties are banking on Charles Rangel for $500 to $550 million from the federal government.
So the daily screeds about public-private futility, say insiders, constitute a “natural part” of negotiations as private players squeeze the governor to steamroll into the discussions. Now that he has, everyone agrees, the developers gain much more by being patient than they would from pulling the plug. So if the Yankees and Mets are a little dull this summer, we should get lots of Moynihan leaks to keep us alert.Read “Moynihan Station: All That Doubtful Press Actually a Good Sign,” by Alec Appelbaum for New York Magazine
