MAS is very pleased to congratulate Vicki Been – the new Commissioner of the City’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development. Vicki is one of the country’s leading experts on affordable housing and the creation of mixed-income, healthy neighborhoods. Her co-leadership of NYU’s Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy established it as a leading urban policy center in the country. Vicki has been a member of our Board of Directors since 2009 and most recently chaired MAS’s Program Committee which helps to guide our planning, preservation and zoning inquiries. We can’t think of anyone better prepared to help meet the Mayor’s ambitious affordable housing goals. We look forward to working together with Vicki in her new position and applaud Mayor de Blasio and his team for this terrific choice.
