NYC Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan Available for Comment

report cover natural hazard mitigation plan 2008At the end of October, the NYC Office of Emergency Management released its Draft 2008 Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan for public review/comment. The plan was developed in collaboration with more than 30 stakeholders, including representatives from government, the private sector, academic institutions, and community organizations. It contains a citywide risk and vulnerability assessment, as well as mitigation strategies for the following natural hazards:
  • Coastal Erosion
  • Coastal Storms
  • Drought
  • Earthquakes
  • Extreme Temperatures
  • Flooding
  • Windstorms/Tornadoes
  • Winter Storms
The plan is available on the website linked above, as well as in a number of libraries in all five boroughs, as listed on the site. The public comment period is open until November 30, and comments can be submitted here.
