Art Along the C Train

An Underground Art Tour

With Sylvia Laudien-Meo

This past fall, several subway stations along the C line in Manhattan were renovated and also beautified by some brand new artwork! Yoko Ono designed the work inside the 72nd Street station, next to her Dakota Building home and Strawberry Fields. Joyce Kozloff’s “Parkside Portals” can be found inside the 86th Street station – a colorful mix of abstract patterns and aerial views of Central Park. On 163rd Street local Dominican artist Firelei Báez designed glass mosaics inspired by her own and the neighborhood’s Caribbean heritage. Please bring your own MetroCard.
