Exploring East New York

Preservation and Development in one Brooklyn Neighborhood

With Zulmilena Then and Farrah Lafontant

Join Zulmilena Then and Farrah Lafontant of Preserving East New York (PENY), a group formed to protect the architectural treasures of this Brooklyn neighborhood, on an exploration of the historic and cultural gems that make this community a vibrant and special place. East New York, and nearby Cypress Hills, are the first communities to undergo the City’s major rezoning plan, which may threaten both of the neighborhoods’ historic buildings that PENY believes are worth saving. One special stop on this tour will be the recently-landmarked historic Empire State Dairy building with its beautifully ornate facade.
