The FABulous Arts of East Fourth Street

Pioneering cultural institutions in the East Village

With Laurence Frommer

The East Fourth Street Cultural District is one of a very few official cultural districts in NYC. It is a Naturally Occurring Cultural District (NOCD) as opposed to one consciously created such as the one around the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and has been on the forefront of New York’s cultural life for over 50 years. Join us on an exploration of this vibrant cultural stretch also known as FAB (Fourth Arts Block), location of a group of resident arts producers, to examine such legendary institutions as La MaMa E.T.C., New York Theater Workshop, Millennium Film Workshop, Creative Time and many others that continue this tradition of arts and culture in the East Village.
