[In-person tour] Before there was steel, iron ruled 19th century Manhattan. Explore the streets of the SoHo Cast-Iron district, viewing handsome classical revival warehouses and loft buildings that were fabricated by such local pioneers as Daniel Badger. Learn about iron fronts and their accessories and the lasting impact of this material on American architecture. We’ll end with Louis Sullivan’s Bayard-Condict Building, a terracotta masterpiece – the architect’s only work in New York City.
