The Livable Neighborhood Program both informs and is informed by the ongoing advocacy work of MAS.

Through public testimonies, MAS makes recommendations to bolster and safeguard community assets and benefits, public oversight, and transparency.

In the past MAS has also made recommendations for improvements to Section 197-a of the New York City Charter, which authorizes community and borough boards, along with the Mayor, the City Planning Commission, the Department of City Planning and any Borough President to sponsor community-based growth and development plans.
