Thank You for Making Tribute in Light Possible

MAS wishes to thank our numerous supporters and donors who have contributed to Tribute in Light for more than ten years. Tribute, first proudly presented by MAS in 2002 to commemorate the tragic events of September 11, will now be administered by the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at the World Trade Center Foundation. The twin-beam memorial will become a part of the annual programming produced by the Foundation.

“For nearly 120 years, MAS has founded and developed many public art and placemaking initiatives which have become part of the city’s landscape. In that tradition, MAS is honored to have produced Tribute in Light. We are so pleased Joe Daniels and the National September 11 Memorial & Museum Foundation will be continuing our legacy. I look forward to working with the Foundation to ensure that Tribute shines on for many years to come and I thank everyone who has made Tribute possible,” said MAS President Vin Cipolla.

Thanks and gratitude go out to everyone involved, including—Creative Time, which co-founded the installation with MAS, the Metropolitan Transit Authority, the Mayor’s Office, Deputy Mayor Patricia Harris, Nanette Smith, Production Manager Michael Ahern and the artists who envisioned Tribute—John Bennett, Gustavo Bonevardi, Richard Nash Gould, Julian Laverdiere and Paul Myoda with lighting consultant Paul Marantz.

Many thanks as well to the MAS Board of Directors, especially Philip Howard, Tony Kiser, Frances Resheske, Janet Ross, Susan Freedman, Kent Barwick, and additional funders including Citi, the Doris C. Freedman Fund, General Electric, Deutsche Bank, New York & Company, the Malkin Fund, Con Edison, Agnes Gund, the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, Alliance for Downtown New York, Covington & Burling, David Rockefeller, Forest City Ratner, MetLife, Robert Wood Johnson, IV, Sullivan & Cromwell, the Rudin Foundation, the LEF Foundation, Thomas Healy & Fred Hochberg and the Third Millennium Foundation for their support and stewardship of Tribute in Light.
