Public Assets: Rezonings and Studies

Initiative: Public Assets

Neighborhood Rezonings and Studies The City uses rezonings as a means to stimulate economic development, increase affordable housing opportunities, and shape future growth in particular areas. Rezonings also present opportunities to examine city-owned and leased properties to identify additional potential redevelopment options that could help achieve the City’s goals. Approximately eight percent of city-owned and leased properties, including 1,864 individual parcels consisting of 2,500 acres, are located in areas that are either being rezoned or are currently being studied. Twenty-two percent of these properties are classified as not having a current use.
