New York Non-Fiction

Hosted by Rooftop Films

The Municipal Art Society of New York is proud to be co-presenting Rooftop Films New York Non-Fiction; a screening of new short documentary films made by and about New Yorkers. The event, at the historic Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, includes live music, films, and an after-party with complimentary drinks.

It’s your city. Take a look!

For more than two decades, Rooftop Films has presented their annual New York Non-Fiction Program. Each year, the screening brings together uniquely-unforgettable-but-perhaps-previously-overlooked characters and situations.

One of Rooftop’s most beloved and popular programs (for good reason!), New York Non-Fiction highlights the myriad quirky characters, hidden communities, and overlooked histories that make this city so special. In the night’s lineup you’ll discover a city where dollar pizza shops line the streets, where delivery drivers are heroes of the night, where nuns live quietly on a Bronx hillside, where locksmiths pass their legacy through their profession. New York has it all, and these nonfiction films tell the captivating stories of these perhaps underappreciated but nevertheless crucial groups that make New York one of a kind.
