Join Guardians of Flushing Bay and artist Cody Herrmann in Willets Point, Queens, for a 1.5 mile tour tracing the coast of Flushing Bay and Flushing Creek. This tour will highlight current development proposals in the area and current advocacy efforts to preserve parkland. Starting at the Mets – Willets Point subway station participants will walk north to Flushing Bay before heading east to Flushing Creek. Attendees will discuss water quality, local history, and envision how climate change may impact plans for development along the Flushing, Willets Point, East Elmhurst, Corona, and College Point waterfront in the future.
Accessibility
This tour has different start and end points. The start point is accessible by the 7 Train and Port Washington LIRR line; parking is available in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. Portions of the walking tour will take place on uneven and/or sandy ground, and the tour may require crouching and maneuvering over low walls. Closed toed shoes are required.
