5 Places in New York to Mend a Broken Heart

Janes Walk

Led By K. F.

New York City is a magnificent city for jaywalking and feeling invincible. But it also can be a surprisingly excellent environment in which to nurse a broken heart.

The hustle and grind of the city flows around you as you slow down to grieve, heal, and rebuild your life. Take this virtual walk and make it your own, by selecting the destinations in each category that best fit your needs.

I encourage you to pause and reflect on what feels good in each location, what you see and hear, and whether there are moments when you can find connection with your fellow New Yorkers. If you participate fully and with an open mind, I hope that you are able to find peace and comfort, even if only for a moment.

“The heart of man is very much like the sea, it has its storms, it has its tides and in its depths it has its pearls too”
Vincent van Gogh

Accessibility

Almost every location should be accessible on this list. I listed an alternative activity for the rollercoaster in Coney Island. The only thing that might not be possible is sitting on the upper deck of the NYC Ferry, but it should be possible to sit on the lower deck (there are ramps leading up to the ferry).
