[In-person tour] This walking tour with architectural historian Matt Postal examines the Upper East Side in all its variety, from the finest tree-lined blocks adjoining Central Park to First Avenue. After visiting a select group of memorable mansions and elite private clubs, we continue east, inspecting somewhat humbler carriage houses once occupied by horses, grooms and chauffeurs, modest brownstone rowhouses built for the middle-class, and the First Avenue Estate, a significant early example of affordable housing. En route, we’ll discuss the impact public transit had on specific blocks, as well as how the character of some areas has changed.

For all tours, there are no refunds, cancellations, or exchanges unless we cancel a tour. Online registration closes one hour prior to the tour start time.
