A brand-new Nature Preserve, just off the beach, and the A-train!

Janes Walk

Led By Eric Peterson, Rockaway Administrator / NYC Parks

Experience the Rockaways’ newest park, the Arverne East Nature Preserve. The Preserve is a 26-acre urban renewal site that laid vacant for five decades, and has been reimagined as a public resource for humans, flora, and fauna. Accessible paths lead through examples of coastal habitats typical to the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Coast, and also provide safe access between the neighborhood and the beach and boardwalk.

Accessibility

The walk itself is accessible; no grades steeper than 5%. Limited public parking is available at the site. Bicycle racks are available onsite. The site is adjacent to an elevated subway station (A train @ Beach 44), and is a 5-minute walk from Q22 bus and a 10-minute walk from Q52 SBS bus. The site is adjacent to the Rockaway Boardwalk.

Location Information

RSVP is required and capacity is limited. Meeting location, ending location, and directions will be provided via email before walk date.
