Accessibility
This tour requires that all participants know how to ride a bicycle (yours or ours), and will wear a helmet (yours or ours) for safety reasons. We will cover 6 miles of gravel trails and asphalt. Bicycles with knobby or fat tires are recommended. The terrain is hilly and knowledge of shifting is necessary.
Directions to Shirley Chisholm State Park:
By car: Take the Belt Parkway to the Erskine exit. Turn right onto Seaview Ave. and take a right onto Fountain Avenue. This takes you into the park where there is free parking. It's a short (1-2 minute) walk from the parking lot to the Fountain Bike Library, which is near the trailhead.
By Public Transportation: Take the A/C train to Euclid Avenue. Catch the B13 or Q8 bus headed to Gateway Mall. Exit at the Brooklyn Development Center stop on Fountain Ave. From there, walk to the Fountain Bike Library, which is near the trailhead from the parking lot. (Estimated walking time from bus stop is 12 minutes)
By Foot: Take the A/C train to Euclid Avenue. Walk on Euclid towards Linden Blvd. Take a right onto Linden Blvd, then take a left onto Fountain Ave. This takes you to directly into the park. (Estimated walking time is 30 minutes)
By Bike: You may access the park from either the Fountain Avenue protected bike land and take a left onto the Fountain Ring Road, or from the Jamaica Bay Greenway connector entrance to the Fountain side of the park. Take a left from the connector path for the shortest route on the Fountain Ring Road, which will take you to the Bike Library.
