BKSK Architects in the Gansevoort Market Historic District

Janes Walk

Led By Eban Singer AND Elizabeth Candela

BKSK Architects’ Associate Eban Singer will lead a walking tour around the Gansevoort Market Historic District and highlight several of the firm’s projects. The tour will be outdoors and will cover some history of the area, LPC approvals processes, design and construction of several commercial buildings completed within the past two decades.

The tour will take place rain or shine and participants should wear comfortable shoes. All sidewalks are accessible.

Accessibility

The Gansevoort Market and Meatpacking area is highly accessible, with newly paved sidewalks, and curb cuts created as buildings were rehabilitated. We will be walking around an area of approximately 6 square blocks, for about an hour. Participants will not need to climb stairs, or enter any buildings, but there might be some views best achieved by standing on cobblestone streets, and the need to cross those streets. Participants should wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate gear - there will be limited shade and seating at the beginning and at the end of the tour. The area is accessible by the 14th Street bus, the A/C subway lines, and there are citibike stations in the area.

Location Information

RSVP is required and capacity is limited. Meeting location, ending location, and directions will be provided via email before walk date.
