Breaking the Bronze Ceiling in Central Park with Monumental Women

Janes Walk

CANCELED

Led By Pam Elam AND Meredith Bergmann, President, Monumental Women

Monumental Women, the all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization that brought the first-ever statue honoring real women in the 167-year history of New York City’s Central Park, has focused on writing all women back into the historical record through an inclusive education campaign and challenge to municipalities across the country to re-imagine their public spaces. By creating the Women’s Rights Pioneers Monument with Sojourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton on Literary Walk in Central Park, Monumental Women lit a fuse to spark an explosion of new tributes to the diverse women who made this nation great. On May 8th, Monumental Women President Pam Elam and sculptor Meredith Bergmann will join participants in front of the WRPM to describe the seven-year battle with NYC bureaucracy to break the bronze ceiling.
