A two mile route around Jackson Heights and Elmhurst with a focus on traffic safety advocacy, which has led to award winning designs, open streets, unique road use and the full use of the DOT tool kit for street design. Art along the route consists of the “Thank You” sign displayed publicly for Elmhurst Hospital during the Covid crisis, a ghost bike, HORT society plantings, possible folk dancing/exercise of Asian community in Elmhurst and scale model of Elmhurst Hospital. This walk is co-hosted by Cristina Furlong of New York Coalition for Transportation Safety and Make Queens Safer, along with Elmhurst Hospital Committee on Trauma who will walk with us, and chat about how to reduce trauma injuries as a cyclist, micromobility user, driver or pedestrian. Please dress for weather, and bring water.
Accessibility
Distance is roughly two miles. It is as accessible as regular commuting or running errands in the neighborhood. No steps are included. There is plenty of public transit options and Citibike. Sorry, no closed captioning, but we could try if requested.
