Classrooms & Cobblestones: The History of Schools & Playgrounds in Brooklyn Heights

Janes Walk

Led By Andy McNeil, Owner - McNeil Tours, LLC

As I’ve learned more and more about Brooklyn Heights there’s always been one side of it I’ve neglected. Now that I’m a new, and first-time, parent, I thought this was the perfect time to explore the rich history of the schools and playgrounds in the neighborhood. Please join me and my family on a walk around the neighborhood as we discuss things like Brooklyn’s first public school building, Mrs. White’s garden, and how they turned the father of Brooklyn Heights’ home into one of the best playgrounds in the area. While I’m encouraging families to come on this walk, everyone is invited! We will conclude the tour on Montague street where everyone can enjoy the first Open Street of the season.

This walk is sold out, but the waitlist is open.
