Climate Resilience Challenge: Barcelona & New York

Janes Walk

Led By Rafael De Balanzo Joue AND Helena Ariza, Professor, Pratt Institute and EINA/UAB

The Catalan Architects Institute (COAC), AUS sustainability, Urban Resilience Thinking Initiatives, Pratt Institute, and Architectural Visits will host a collaborative inter-city urban resilience walk. This walk will feature a guided walk (simultaneous in-person and online) and debate between Barcelona & NYC participants, simultaneously broadcast to NYC and Barcelona. The purpose is to promote inter-city dialogue about local efforts of Urban Resilience in the face of Climate Change, under the umbrella of global agendas for adaptation. We will collectively and holistically reflect on the relationship between the built and natural environment, focusing on low-lying areas of the cities—as they are both coastal cities that face many of the same environmental, social, and economic challenges.

The participants that will join us in person for the BCN/NYC Climate resilience walk, have to bring their phones with earphones and download the zoom app, to be able to follow correctly our partners from Barcelona leading the simultaneous walk.
