DUMBO at Dusk: Preservation and Development on Brooklyn’s Historic Waterfront

With Matt Postal

[In-person tour] This sunset tour with architectural historian Matt Postal focuses on Brooklyn Bridge Park, DUMBO (District Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass,) and the Fulton Ferry Historic District. Learn about the area’s mercantile past and vibrant present. We’ll visit the award-winning Adams Street Library and Emily Warren Roebling Plaza, while considering how 19th century warehouses like the Eagle Warehouse and Empire Stores have found new uses as apartments and commercial space. Highlights include pioneering examples of reinforced concrete construction by William Higginson, as well as contemporary works by Jean Nouvel and Marvel Architects.

With rare exception, MAS tours take place rain or shine. For all tours, there are no refunds, cancellations, or exchanges unless we cancel a tour. Online registration closes one hour prior to the tour start time.
