Gowanus: A Look at Landmarks as Rezoning Looms

Janes Walk

Led By Brad Vogel, Gowanus Landmarking Coalition, Gowanus Landmarking Coalition

Centered on the polluted Gowanus Canal, Brooklyn’s Gowanus neighborhood faces a potential city-led rezoning. The Gowanus Landmarking Coalition has pushed since 2017 for designation of a variety of landmarks in this quirky neighborhood BEFORE any rezoning arrives. Brad Vogel, a Gowanus resident, captain of the Gowanus Dredgers Canoe Club, and a Coalition founder, will lead the tour with a focus on landmarks in the proposed rezoning area.
