Hunts Point: Village of Murals, Environmental Justice, Print Day in May

Janes Walk

Led By Carey Clark, Public Arts Director AND Victor Davila, A.C.T.I.O.N. Manager, THE POINT CDC

This “walk” will focus on public art and environmental justice in Hunts Point in the South Bronx, the city’s heart of manufacturing and food distribution, a hub of arts and activism, and the birthplace of hip-hop. The tour explores how industry, community, and nature intersect to fuse art, environmental, and social justice in an inner-city neighborhood. Join us by tuning into our Instagram Live as we explore Hunts Point in-person! You’ll also be able to virtually join Tammy Wofsey after the tour to watch a printmaking workshop at THE POINT’S Campus.

Accessibility

Ours will be a virtual bike tour of the Hunts Point Peninsula with 3 leaders and a small cohort of POINT staff. Our wider audience will access the tour through Instagram Live. Because we are on bikes we can cover a lot more territory than our usual walk and therefore will be highlighting sites that are usually not within reach, concentrating on the industrial shorelines of the peninsula that are laced with sublime and hidden accesses to the Bronx and East rivers.

Location Information

RSVP is required and capacity is limited. Meeting location, ending location, and directions will be provided via email before walk date.
