I’ll Take the Stairs

This virtual tour examines the history of stairs, mainly in Manhattan. From the grand curving treads and risers in City Hall rotunda to the pyramidal steps that lead inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Matt Postal will discuss intriguing indoor and outdoor examples, such as the humble but necessary stoop, as well as grander forms that define our most notable public spaces, and others that appear to defy gravity.
