In the Heights: Historic Wash Heights, from George W to Malcolm X

Janes Walk

Led By Rob Boatti

A 2+ hour walking tour of one of New York’s most historic and culturally famous neighborhoods (and mostly downhill!) Highlights will include Bennett Park (site of Battle of Fort Washington and the highest point in Manhattan), the United Palace Theater (one of the Loew’s Wonder Theaters from the 1930s), the Highbridge and its Water Tower, Morris-Jumel Mansion (the oldest standing residential structure in New York City), the 19th century rowhouses of Sylvan Terrace, and the Audubon Ballroom.

We’ll be on well-populated sidewalks and walking mostly downhill, mostly avoiding steps.
