Building on the success of last year’s Zoom performance by six Janes, Peculiar Works Project returns with even more Janes—in-person and online—to march on Penn Station where Jacobs once fought to save the original terminal. For Janes Return, this year’s diverse actresses will channel our inspirational namesake in quintessential hair & glasses for short performances of Jacobs’ own words. Carrying recreations of original “Save Penn” signs, this live promenade will stop at sites currently in danger of demolition, conjuring the 1962 pickets that inspired NYC’s Landmarks law. In-person audiences can chant and sing along the way, while the Janes live-stream on cellphones for online audiences who can’t make it to this rapidly changing neighborhood.
Accessibility
Both live and on Zoom, our 1/2 mile march on Penn Station sidewalks will stop along the way for short performances at the top 10 buildings in danger of destruction. (1.5 hrs)
