Neue Galerie

Klimt, Schiele, Kokoschka and the Wiener Werkstaette

With Sylvia Laudien-Meo

The Neue Galerie is an outstanding museum in NYC which holds Klimt’s portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer as its key masterpiece. Klimt was the leading portraitist in Vienna in his time and his patrons embraced his new revolutionary style which was expressive and decorative at the same time. His most important students are Schiele and Kokoschka who also were portraitists, but also created most passionate and sensuous work depicting their lovers. All three collaborated with the Vienna Workshop, an organization dedicated to the beautiful modern design of all functional objects and interiors. We will explore some of the outstanding masterpieces, especially those of the young female artists who were especially innovative.

All tours are Eastern Time and last 60 to 90 minutes.
