Join Dr. Anne Vuagniaux, professor of Art History at Bronx Community College, on this self-guided tour exploring the transformation of Astoria, Queens from tidal swamp to a planned, industrial community by the Steinway and Sons Company. Dr. Vuagniaux provides context to historical photos hosted on Urban Archive. The tour was developed in collaboration with the Bronx Community College Archives and Urban Archive.

The self-guided tour may be enjoyed through Urban Archive at home or while walking the neighborhood. The total walking trip is a little over 2 miles on mostly flat city streets that have sidewalks. Images may be enlarged and the historical context for the images is in text.
