Step Inside: East 40s Interiors

With Matt Postal

This armchair tour focuses on East Midtown and the various buildings that surround Grand Central Terminal. Our route highlights skyscrapers built for flamboyant jazz age real estate developers and major corporations, as well as mid-20th century modern interiors in the vicinity of the United Nations, including the Hans Hoffman murals at 711 Third Avenue and the Edgar J. Kaufmann Conference Room, Alvar Aalto’s sole surviving project in New York City.
