The Big Red Thing: Beyond Plop Art

Janes Walk

CANCELED

Led By Erin Donnelly

This mini tour explores a mighty collection of modern art sculptures near Lower Broadway. With iconic works by Louise Nevelson, Jean Dubuffet, Mark di Suvero and Isamu Noguchi, this open air museum in FiDi is available to the public 24/7 with no admission fee. Setting the stage for public art of the era, hear backstories of 20th century architecture as shapers of corporate space. In the spirit of Jane Jacobs, how aligned are the roles and goals of users and makers of POPS, plazas and pocket parks where these pieces reside? Learn more about the artists from your guide as we experience this corner of the city and discover how we form its social geometries and bring relevance to this grid we call New York. Bring the kids, bring your dog, bring a friend!
