The square mile or so south of The Met was and is home to many of the museum’s leaders and most generous donors or art. On this tour we will see the homes of Jules Bache, Susan Dwight Bliss, Michael Friedsam, Stephen Carlton Clark and Susan Vanderpoel Clark, Joseph Pulitzer, Jack and Belle Linsky, Edward Harkness and Mary Stillman Harkness, and Issac and Mary Fletcher, among others. We will see the sites of the homes of Henry Marquand and George Blumenthal and several influential galleries where literally hundreds of objects now at The Met were collected. And we will admire other landmarks that are art-related, including the Frick and Duke houses.
