Within the jumble of buildings on a typical crosstown street, one can read the story of a city ever-transforming city – a narrative of politics, economic ups and downs, demographic shifts and evolving social values. This one-hour, four-block walk traces a single street’s transformation from an 18th century Arcadia to its emergence as a residential community in the 19th to the urban renewal initiatives of Robert Moses in the 20th and the Bloomberg era of the 21st.
