Town of Jamaica

With Bob Singleton

The Town of Jamaica is now part of Queens county, but a study of it offers a rich opportunity for an urban experience in a place that is dynamic yet underexplored. The one time center of a trading network that extended to the Ohio Valley, the colonial county seat of Queens, and more recently a transit and commercial center, it is now home to a diverse mix of people. Our tour guide, Bob Singleton of the Greater Astoria Historical Society, will examine its rich past and present.
