Led By Rachel Aronson, Education Programming Coordinator, Freshkills Park
Freshkills Park, New York City’s largest new park in over a century, is a fascinating look into trash and transformation in New York City. This self-guided virtual tour will bring Jane’s Walk participants behind the scenes of the world’s largest landfill-to-park transformation. Visitors will interact with videos, maps, and more as they navigate through a virtual tour of park history, engineering, and environmental transformation.
This tour is virtual and self-guided, on your own time. The tour includes videos with closed captioning and pictures with alternate text. The tour also includes a component designed on ArcGIS StoryMaps, which involves scrolling through text, pictures, and video.
RSVP is required and capacity is limited. Meeting location, ending location, and directions will be provided via email before walk date.
