“Virtual Village” — South of Union Square

Janes Walk

Led By Village Preservation

The area south of Union Square, where Greenwich Village meets the East Village, is a unique and dramatic confluence of history and heterodoxy; commerce and culture; art, architecture, and activism. This Urban Archive project highlights — and allows all to explore in person or virtually — the great concentration of New York and American history in these blocks. Join us in calling for their preservation through landmarking and zoning protections!

The sites on this tour are sidewalk accessible, if explored in person. They can also be accessed virtually on a computer or smartphone.
