This tour will explore the creativity and vitality of early Yiddish Theater and its contribution to New York City culture. Sites include the Yiddish Arts Theater (presently the Village East Cinema), LaMama (site of the first Yiddish production in New York) and the Hebrew Actors’ Union.
Themes will address the origins of Yiddish Theater, culture, language and literature, and famous personalities.
