Include the format, platform, topic, and places you will explore in your walk to help paint a picture of what attendees can expect. For example, should attendees wear comfortable shoes or bring along some water or a camera? What are some of the stops along your walk route? Or, if you are planning a panel conversation on Zoom about the history of a neighborhood, include a sneak peek of what you will discuss and who will join you (e.g. a historian, a community advocate, etc.)! Zoom: Please provide the join link for Zoom meeting or webinar (not the registration link). MAS will take registration and provide the link directly to participants. The password requirement should be disabled so that attendees can easily join you on Zoom. If you are hosting your activity on Zoom more than one time, please contact janeswalknyc@mas.org with your list of selected dates, clearly indicating which links correspond to which date.

Social Media: Please provide the link to your profile page, which must be public to host a Jane’s Walk activity.

For “on-demand” activities:

Please share a link that will direct participants to your content (e.g. webpage link, a link to your post on social media, a link to download a self-guided walk route or document, a link to access a podcast, etc.). Note that MAS only permits content that was created specifically for Jane’s Walk NYC 2024. Anything created for another purpose and/or before 2024, may not be eligible for a walk listing on mas.org. What is the meeting location of your walk? If your walk is virtual, we still ask that you provide a meeting location for organizational purposes and to assist attendees in finding walks of interest in their neighborhood.*

Please use an exact address (with the street address, borough, and zip code) so that we can accurately map your starting location. This address will be included in confirmation and reminder emails when walk goers sign-up, preparing them to easily find you on the day of the walk.

For example, you will be wearing specific attire, holding a sign, or standing next to a specific landmark to help people spot you. As a note, MAS will provide all walk leaders with yellow MAS fans to help with this.

Everyone experiences physical spaces and virtual platforms differently, so think broadly and empathetically about how others might feel when participating in your walk. If you’re planning a guided group walk, or self-guided walk, what is the route distance? Is it a route that’s accessible to wheelchairs, or are there steps and inaccessible pathways to consider? Are there nearby public transit options, or access to car/bike parking or nearby CitiBike stations? IN 2024, MAS IS EXCITED TO Host a hybrid festival, which includes GUIDED, IN-PERSON GROUP WALKS. EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT PLANNING ON LEADING AN IN-PERSON WALK, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING SAFETY INFORMATION:**

For outdoor walks, masks will not be required. If you prefer to wear a mask, though, we want you to feel comfortable doing so. For walks that take participants inside, leaders and attendees will not be required to wear masks, unless required by the venue/building’s management.

Note

Due to restrictions on image permissions, MAS reserves the right to allocate a suitable image or graphic for your walk activity listing. If you would like to use an image of your own for the listing page, you must own the rights and permissions for that image and clearly state in an email to us that you own the copyright to the image. To submit this request, please email your file to janeswalknyc@mas.org with the subject: Jane’s Walk Image Request, and include your name and walk title in your email, along with the appropriate image credit. Photos must be high-resolution (min. 2980x1800 px and under 1mb) and in JPG or PNG format. PDFs will not be accepted.
