Join us on an enlightening stroll along the west end of Jersey Street and North Shore Esplanade Park in Staten Island’s North Shore, where we will delve into the rich history of a once-vibrant shopping district and historic waterfront park between the 1940s and today. Discover how the transformative 1961 Zoning Resolution reshaped New Brighton forever. Looking forward, you’ll hear from community advocates fighting to redefine the future of our cherished neighborhood and its waterfront.
We’ll be on the waterfront for a good portion of the walk, so keep in mind that it can get a little windy.
Accessibility
The walk is 1 mile in length at an easy pace and mostly flat.
Unfortunately, Wheelchair users will find parts of the Esplanade very difficult to navigate. I will try to provide language support upon request
