The Accidents and Contingencies of Rezoning Without Planning: The Frederick Douglass Rezoning

Janes Walk

Led By Gregory Christopher Baggett, A. Philip Randolph Square Neighborhood Alliance, Founding Director and Educator

This walk is a story about progress. It’s a story about the ideas surrounding growth and diversification in a low-income neighborhood against the backdrop of displacement of people. This walk is also a story about how rezoning along a single avenue brought about unanticipated change that resulted in the displacement of residents and businesses along the streets and even the neighboring avenues.
