In the 1800s, Five Points was a notorious slum in Lower Manhattan, infamous for decades as NYC’s center of crime, disease and filth. Today, though little remains of the neighborhood, stories associated with various locations live on, most notably in Martin Scorsese’s Gangs of New York. Sites visited include the Old Brewery/Mission House, Bandit’s Roost, the African Burial Ground, Collect Pond, and others.
