A Walk Down Brooklyn’s Fulton Street: Fort Greene and Clinton Hill

With Suzanne Spellen

As Brooklyn expanded beyond the waterfront, development was aided by improved roads and public transportation. Fulton Street is one of Brooklyn’s oldest, longest and most important thoroughfares, with one of the city’s most important subway lines running underneath it. Part One of this tour with Suzanne Spellen examined the street as it passed through Bedford Stuyvesant. This tour continues downtown, highlighting Fulton’s passage through Clinton Hill and Fort Greene. There’s a little of everything here – commerce, industry, entertainment and more, from early development to today. From Brooklyn’s Broadway to the Bogolan District to the border of Bedford Stuyvesant, Fulton Street is much more than you know.
