A Walk through Carnegie Hill’s “Museum without Walls”

Janes Walk

Led By Lo van der Valk, Carnegie Hill Neighbors AND Lo van der Valk, President, Carnegie Hill Neighbors

We will examine the architecture of Carnegie Hill, which reflects almost all of the City’s residential building types and architectural styles since the Civil War. These include: the early wood frame houses; the post-Civil War brownstone era; the late mansion era starting around 1902 (when Andrew Carnegie moved into his new home and headquarters); the post WWI luxury apartment era, especially of the 1920’s; and post-WWII to the present.
