Beginning at the gravesite and monument to John James Audubon, this tour will take groups on a trifold journey of art, history and environmentalism. Rooted in the Audubon Mural Project’s achievement of bringing art and awareness to Manhattan’s Washington Heights neighborhood, as well as engaging artists from home and around the globe, this walk highlights the Audubon Societies Climate Report as well as the artists interpretation of Climate Threatened and Climate Endangered birds of North America. As with all of my tours I connect the art with its location, so the history of Washington Heights will be highlighted along the route.
Accessibility
This is a walking tour that usually lasts 1.5 to 2 hours. Wear comfortable walking shoes, bring water and snacks, and be prepared for rain if it is forecasted. The route distance is approximately 1 to 1.5 miles. There are nearby subway options. A,C, and 1 trains for both the start and end points of the tour. No stairs at all so the route is accessible to wheelchairs.
