Brooklyn’s Civic Center

With Matt Postal

[In-person] Numerous people pass through Brooklyn’s Civic Center each day but few pause to consider the neighborhood’s history and architecture. Join architectural historian Matt Postal for an in-depth look at how the area has continuously evolved since the completion of Brooklyn City Hall in 1845, highlighting the various buildings that border Cadman Plaza and Columbus Park, as well as neighboring streets. En route, we’ll view 19th and 20th century structures by such notable architects as Frank Freeman, Shreve Lamb & Harmon, and Cesar Pelli, as well as monuments and sculptures, by, among others, Emma Stebbins and Hank Willis Thomas.
