Cathedral of Thrift and Prosperity: Inside the Williamsburg Savings Bank Tower

Janes Walk

Led By Anna Raginskaya AND Cristiana Peña, MAS Urbanist Leadership Council

Join us for a behind-the-scenes tour of 1 Hanson Place, the Williamsburg Savings Bank tower built by Halsey, McCormack and Helmer in 1927 and the tallest building in Brooklyn until 2010! We will explore the history of the building and original bank lobby, with mosaics, stained glass and decorative reliefs, as well as the bank’s basement vault inside this “cathedral of thrift and prosperity.”

This Jane’s Walk activity is brought to you by CIRCA Old Houses.
