Once part of Westchester County, City Island in the Bronx has a rich history that includes fishing, farming, shipbuilding, sailmaking, the America’s Cup, and much more. Join Barbara Burn Dolensek of the City Island Historical Society for a walk around this maritime community. Stops include the City Island Nautical Museum, several sites on the National Register of Historic Places, a shady public park and soldiers’ memorial, and beautiful shoreline views of Long Island Sound. Plan on spending the whole day – do some shopping, have a late lunch/early dinner, and enjoy the crafts fair. Arrive early to spend extra time in the Nautical Museum.
