[Virtual tour] Daniel Chester French is known to most of us mainly as the creator of the majestic Abraham Lincoln sculpture for the president’s memorial in Washington DC , but he won several major commissions throughout the country for a diversity of projects. Highly trained and well traveled, he represents the neo classical style in America during the Gided Age and his work, often monumental and public, contributes in interesting ways to our country’s search for identity. In the New York City metropolitan area we are lucky to have some wonderful works of his, either as part for our buildings, freestanding in parks, or in our museum collections. On this virtual tour with art historian Sylvia Laudien-Meo, we’ll be able to explore them all!
