Discovering Tin Pan Alley!

Janes Walk

Led By Miriam Berman and George Calderaro, Save Tin Pan Alley Initiative

See the buildings on West 28th St. that housed many of the sheet music publishers which produced some of the most enduring popular tunes of the late 1800s and early 1900s — such as “A Bird in a Gilded Cage,” “Wait ‘Till the Sun Shines, Nellie,” “Take Me Out to the Ballgame,” and “The Band Played On,” to mention just a few. And it was here where Scott Joplin, George M. Cohan, Irving Berlin and George Gershwin began their song writing careers!
